Pigment first. The brush comes second.
Acrylic and oil colour sets, watercolour pans, soft and oil pastels, compressed charcoal, canvas-and-easel kits, miniature detail brushes and airbrush sets — colour count and volume on every listing.

Choosing a medium
Three differences worth knowing before you buy
Volume matters more than colour count
A 36-colour set of 12 ml tubes holds less paint than a 24-colour set of 60 ml. Both numbers are printed, so compare the millilitres.
Acrylic dries fast, oil does not
Acrylic is touch-dry in minutes and cleans with water; oil colour stays workable for hours and needs a solvent. Pick for how you work, not for the swatch.
Detail brushes are sized by the tip
A 10/0 round holds a point for miniature work; a size 8 flat covers ground. Brush sets state the sizes included, so you are not guessing from the photograph.
Twenty-four colours you will use beats one hundred you will not. The count is on the page; the choice is yours.
